MicroPoly ® Wheel Flange Lubrication System

The Problem:

Inadequate lubrication of overhead crane wheel flanges leads to excessive wear and premature failure of the wheels. The flanges are difficult to lubricate since they are not readily accessible and, therefore, are frequently missed during routine maintenance. Vibration can misalign stick-type single point lubricators, making frequent maintenance inspection of the lubrication system necessary.

The Solution:

Solid MicroPoly arcs are used to lubricate the flanges employing a specially designed applicator (Patent Pending), see figures above. The applicator keeps the MicroPoly arcs in contact with the flange. The oil from the MicroPoly transfers to the flange, providing constant and consistent lubrication. The service life of crane wheels has been increased three to four fold with the use of PhyMet’s MicroPoly Wheel Flange Lubrication System. Additionally, since wheel flange lubrication can be eliminated from the maintenance schedule, significant cost savings result.
